Piano Starts Here highlights the work of some of the most prolific and talented jazz composers and pianists to ever tackle the instrument. Each performance brings together Seattle’s finest contemporary pianists to perform compositions that showcase the featured performer’s work – the Royal Room brings together a who’s who of local piano talent to play the ongoing series, featuring pianists like Ryan Burns, Marc Seales, Dawn Clement, Sumi Tonooka, Gus Carnes, Aaron Othein, and Dave Peck, to name just a few.

Though Walton and Silver are known for their pioneering hard bop, and Timmons is typically classified as a soul jazz composer, all three served as music directors for various incarnations of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, thus putting their stamp on one of the most important jazz groups in the post be-bop era.

Please note: Tickets do not guarantee seating during shows at the Royal Room. For sold out shows standing room may be the only available space. Please come early to ensure you get a table. Reservations can be made for those who are coming for dinner as well as the show. The Royal Room is all ages until 10pm.
