SEATTLE, WA—COLLECT Seattle, the organization Seattle Weekly called “one of the best new ideas of 2015,” invites you to join renowned chef Tarik Abdullah [Luna Park (LA), Cicchetti] for a joyful tour through art and food in celebration of their one-year anniversary.

Tickets to this special event are $50.00. Buy your tickets here!

Abdullah, a Seattle-based chef known for his exciting pop-up restaurants, will curate one-of-a-kind culinary experiences to complement each of COLLECT’s tour stops. At each location, Abdullah will serve COLLECT patrons a small dish that echoes the theme of the show.

Abdullah focuses on Mediterannean cuisine. He was chosen by none other than Anthony Bourdain for last season's competitive cooking show on ABC, "The Taste."

The tour begins at Vermillion Art Gallery and Wine Bar, featuring artist Laurie Le Clair’s show, CLAIM and KIN. Le Clair is “interest[ed] in the possibility that ghosts - a sort of Spiritual DNA - survive in mundane used objects and other matter that humans left behind.”

Next, COLLECT visits the studio of artist, writer, and speaker Barbara Earl Thomas. Thomas has shown at the Seattle Art Museum, the Tacaoma Art Museum, and in galleries and museums across the country. In April of 2015, The Stranger called Thomas "a figure, a personage..a sage."

The last stop is the Northwest African American Museum. Guests will enjoy Abdullah’s final dish while viewing three exhibitions: Debora Moore’s Glass Orchidarium, “sculpted glass orchids that are inspired by her distant travels and immersion in nature,”; Iris Graham Valazquez's "The Girls," works in bronze; and Robert Wade's "Torchbearers, Portraits of African American Leaders in Seattle and King County."

We look forward to celebrating a year of art appreciation with you.

COLLECT is a social and cultural event that encourages new potential art collectors to get started on their collection. The goal is to introduce people who haven't felt comfortable or informed enough to approach art in a new way. Smaller galleries are often overlooked but they provide a special opportunity to discover emerging, early and mid-career artists who produce high quality work at a more manageable price point.
