A screening of Woman of Tokyo with live score composed by Wayne Horvitz and performed by Horvitz with Seattle's finest.
Chikako (played by 1930s star Okada Yoshiko) works hard at an office job in order to support her younger brother, Ryoichi, as he completes school. Despite her focus on Ryoichi’s success and her personal sacrifices, she harbors a secret that threatens to disrupt everything. The film also stars one of the greatest actresses in Japanese film history, Tanaka Kinuyo, in the role of Ryoichi’s girlfriend.

Wayne Horvitz has performed and recorded with the leading names in contemporary music and jazz. He has composed and produced music for a variety of video, film, television, and other multimedia projects. His score for Woman of Tokyo premiered at the Northwest Film Forum in 2005 and late in NYC at the Winter Garden.
