Turn of the Screw

This event has passed.

Join Seattle Immersive Theatre for an evening of Victorian parlor games and ghost stories for its take on the gothic classic: Turn of the Screw. You’ll be transported back to 1840s England with up to 40 other guests for an intimate manor party where your hosts will reenact Henry James’ haunting psychological thriller while you drink from snifters of fine scotch or indulge in a hot cup of tea by the fire.

As adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher, Turn of the Screw tells the story of a young governess sent to an isolated country mansion to oversee the education of two orphans. Her employer and the orphans’ uncle, a wealthy and mysterious man from London, gives her only one caution: no matter what happens, she is not to bother him with their problems or bad behavior. When she’s visited by the spirits of the late valet and the governess hired before her, she begins to fear for the safety of her two charges - but are these apparitions real, or are they a just one symptom of her slow descent into madness?

Please come dressed to impress in your best cocktail finery. Black is encouraged.

Doors open at 7:00 p.m. The storytelling portion of the evening begins sharply at 8:00 p.m. To take part in the evening's festivities and be first in line at the bar, we recommend arriving no later than 7:15 p.m.
