Deaf Spotlight is thrilled to announce another Epic Jam on October 1st featuring Cassandra “Cassie” Simmons! Hailing from Michigan, Cassie is a comedian and storyteller.
Growing up, she was inspired by comedy shows on television (especially that of Carol Burnett) to learn dramatic facial expressions. She also credits her parents for showing her the importance of facial expressions and gestures for communication. Cassie has since integrated these artfully into her comedy acts. She discovered early in life just how much it pleased her to make people laugh and smile.
She was featured on the Sorenson 2015 calendar of Deaf artists and performers to keep your eye on. To explore more of her work, look at her videos via YouTube. Some of her more popular renditions include “Revenge of Lips”, “Fire Pants”, and “Preacher’s Shock”.
Hosting the evening with his heartwarming energy and inviting audience participation is Nat Wilson. Nat is a National Theater of the Deaf Alum, storyteller, comedian, and host for festivals and events celebrating ASL and Deaf culture.
