With tragedy comes a new beginning of activism. December 2016 marks the 10th anniversary of audiobook narrator and producer Kate Fleming's death during a storm in Seattle. When Kate was rushed to the hospital, her spouse Charlene Strong was denied access by Emergency Room staff because their relationship wasn’t institutionally recognized. After facing this horrific loss and the humiliation of a funeral director's bigotry, Charlene decided to take a stand and become an activist for equality.

Join us for this special documentary screening, introduced by Charlene herself, followed by a Q&A with her and creators of the film. The story highlights an important journey to marriage equality in our state and nation, and puts forth a message particularly relevant for our current political reality.
