The first weekend opens with Gu Jiani from Southern China with a shadowy and mysterious work and Khambatta Dance Company performing a new work in their half way mark of a ten year dance project exploring the American psyche.
Gu Jiani (Beijing, China) studied ballet and classical Chinese dance, blending both in her own movement language. Her ominous work Right & Left fuses aggressive precision with an arresting mix of projection and light to examine our oldest questions: Why do we love, and how do we stop it from destroying who we are?
Khambatta Dance Company (Seattle, WA) presents a new untitled work continuing its exploration of haunting psycho-social themes of our times with the fifth work in a series of ten, a half way point that explores perceptual tainting of a polarized nation.
