Film Description
Stage Door (1937) is director Gregory La Cava's superb, behind-the-scenes film about show business, camaraderie, and the lives of aspiring, tough-talking rival actresses looking for that one big break into the New York theater world. This backstage comedy has it all, snappy rapid-fire dialogue, witty characters you’ll fall in love with and some of the greatest female stars of the late 1930s gracing the screen including Katharine Hepburn, Ginger Rogers, Lucille Ball and Eve Arden. This classic has been beloved by LGTBQ+ audiences for decades for its blend of sassy humor, moving and honest portrayal of female friendship and fierce feminist spirit.
