The Whateverly Brothers present “A Very Whateverly Maritime Showcase” with special guests The Drunken Maidens. Showtime will be Thursday August 2, 2018, 8pm at the Royal Room in Columbia City. 

Starting as a maritime music group, The Whateverly Brothers soon followed their wide interests and backgrounds into many styles and genres. Dan Roberts, Chris Glanister and Rob Kneisler, all seasoned folk music collectors, performers, and multi-instrumentalists, have delighted audiences with their varying repertoire, shimmering harmonies, striking arrangements, and offbeat humor.

The Drunken Maidens, an all-female acoustic band, specialize in tight vocal harmonies which are inspired by performers such as Sweet Honey in the Rock, Mediaeval Baebes, Great Big Sea & the Wailin’ Jennys. In addition to their voices, the band incorporates guitar, fiddle, mandolin, whistles, mountain dulcimer and percussion. Threads from traditional ballads, shanties, old-time and bluegrass, fiddle tunes and early music are woven together to produce a colorful and varied blend of British and American music, old and new.

For one very special night and for the first time ever, these two longstanding and widely acclaimed groups will mix and match in a variety ways to explore songs from the maritime traditions and beyond. 

The music starts at 8pm, Thursday August 2, 2018 at the Royal Room in Columbia City. With permanent backline, recording and video, a grand piano and a generous stage, the Royal Room has been designed to serve the musicians and artists who will be performing. The restaurant and bar has a comfortable neighborhood feel that welcomes patrons of all ages and varied tastes.
