Ethereal solo trumpet from Australia and dark, free-jazz from Poland.
Australian trumpeter/composer/sound artist Peter Knight is a multidisciplinary musician who has gained wide acclaim for his eclectic approach which integrates jazz, world music, and experimental traditions. He leads several projects of his own and appears as a soloist in a range of settings. Knight also composes for theatre and creates sound installations.
Mixing Hasidic, cantorial nigunim (melodies) and free jazz, Polish group Shofar pus a twist on Jewish music. Shofar aims to carry on Jewish musical traditions, while also searching for a common denominator shared by Hasidic music and free jazz. The band consists of three leading Polish musicians: Mikołaj Trzaska (saxophone, bass clarinet), Raphael Rogiński (electric guitar) and Macio Moretti (drums).
