Orlando de Lange, SoundBio Lab and Ada's present Seattle Botany A-Z: Your guide to green life in the Emerald City
Thu, Mar 19 at 7:30pm
A sumptuous botanical feast of plants, people and places that define the green landscape and history of our city. Meet heroes (Charles Olmsted), Villains (The Empire Expressway) and odd-balls (Newton's apple), during 26 botanical snippets delivered in one hour, with a break to make sure you're fresh on drinks. If you enjoy good drinks, bad jokes and lots of fun facts about plants then you’re in for a treat.
The speaker is Dr. Orlando de Lange, Plant Molecular Biologist and parent to many happy houseplants. Arriving in Seattle from the UK, by way of Germany, Orlando now spends his days researching plant immune systems at the University of Washington. By night, weekend, and any other free time he can be found at SoundBio, a community lab space in the University District where he leads a team of intrepid amateur plant scientists (www.sound.bio).
