CROCODILE TEARS (20TH ANNIVERSARY SCREENING)
(Ann Coppel; 1996; USA; 84 min)

Crocodile Tears was shot in 1996 with an abundance of community support, 120 thousand dollars in donations (before Kickstarter existed), and money from Ted Sod’s credit cards. It was the first locally made film to be screened at SIFF, originally as a rough cut, then a completed film. It was on the Festival circuit from '97-'99 and was self-distributed in three cities: Seattle, San Francisco and L.A. A VHS and DVD version was distributed by Culture Q Connection. A black comedy and post-modern Faust story, Crocodile Tears tells the story of Simon DeSoto, a Seattleite, who sells his soul to the devil in order to be free of HIV
