Joshua Morrison, R. Barrett (Pica Beats), Led to Sea, Bright Archer, and Levi Fuller
Funded by a grant from the City of Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs, five local songwriters are taking part in a project called Songs about Books. Paul Constant, The Stranger's Books Editor, assigned a book to each of the songwriters involved. They are currently writing and recording songs inspired by their books. All 25 of the songs written as part of this project will be performed at the event on August 19th, and concert attendees will receive a free CD (Ball of Wax Audio Quarterly Volume 25) featuring 15 of the songs (the CD will be available for sale after the date of the concert).

Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.

The performers and their books are:

Ryan Barrett (The Pica Beats): The Possibility of an Island, by Michel Houellebecq; Alex Guy (Led to Sea): Pale Fire, by Vladimir Nabokov; Levi Fuller: Bluets, by Maggie Nelson; Johanna Kunin (Bright Archer): Set This House in Order: A Romance of Souls, by Matt Ruff; and Joshua Morrison: The Last Samurai, by Helen DeWitt.
