Made in Seattle: The Future of Urban Manufacturing

Tue, Oct 11, 2016 from 6pm - 8pm

This event has passed.

Can Seattle revitalize its sewn-goods industry based on the principles of sustainability and equity, providing living-wage jobs and opportunities for small businesses to grow and thrive here? In this second annual Future of Urban Manufacturing event, forward-thinking manufacturers and non-profit leaders will share what’s next in the sustainability of textiles, how they’re collaborating to keep manufacturing in the city, and how these efforts help fight the offshore trend that has fueled the socially and environmentally disastrous dominance of fast fashion. The evening will feature spark-style presentations followed by a moderated discussion, audience Q&A, and a reception with drinks and bites.

Seattle Made: The Future of Urban Manufacturing is one event among many during Seattle Made Week (Oct 7th - 16th). Check out demos, pop-ups, a market, meet-the-maker events, contests, a fabulous party, and a panel discussion about why it all matters! Dozens of producers, manufacturers, shops, and restaurants across the city showcased the huge variety of products made right here in Seattle!
