Growing up in London during the 70’s through to the early 90’s Nasir was exposed to a lot of music from Punk, Ska, Reggae, Disco, Hip Hop, House and of course Bollywood. As a little boy, he remembers their house being filled with the smell of delicious curries being cooked by his mother as she prepared meals for the week. She would pop in a Video Cassette of the latest bootlegs Bollywood blockbuster that they rented from the Pan shop on Tooting Broadway High street and watch while she cut her meats and vegetables with his sister. He would be upstairs listening to the Radio 1 chart show daydreaming about becoming a DJ himself one day. After his mother had done all her cooking she would play her favorite Bollywood and disco records on their “Hi-Fi” system and would dance away their Sunday evening blues away while they waited for their grumpy old dad to wake up from his nap so that they could all eat dinner. Music and Food have been a big part of who Nasir is and he is honored to share with you a selection of Indian treats and beats.
