Not long after moving into her own place, Maggie (Karyn Dwyer) finds herself with two unsolicited roommates: her recently divorced mother, Lila (Wendy Crewson), and her young brother. The timing is especially bad, considering Maggie has fallen hard for an attractive traveling artist, Kim (Christina Cox), only hours before her family arrives. Add a feminist lesbian bookstore run by the hilarious Frances (Ann-Marie MacDonald) who’s books are being stopped at the border due to being labeled ‘obscene,’ some classic lesbian tunes from the likes of Ani Difranco, a drag club, a box full of borrowed sex toys, awkward crushes and an unlikely friendship between two older ladies, and you’ve got yourself a classic.
