Big news, fans of the Action Pack and Austin’s Alamo Drafthouse, R. Kelly and the long-neglected art form of the hip-hopera: the TRAPPED IN THE CLOSET sing-along is coming to Seattle to an outdoor theaters near you! We’ve attended this sing-along in the past and I can’t emphasize more warmly how %$#@! awesome it is.

DON’T MISS THIS ONE NIGHT SCREENING ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 3RD.

Movie Tickets are $12 Advance/$15 at the door.

The Action Pack has teamed up with IFC, Fuzzy Bunny Films, and RCA Records to put together a rare chance to experience R. Kelly’s infamous hip-hopera, TRAPPED IN THE CLOSET, like never before in Seattle this summer outdoors at the Fremont Outdoor Movies in a festive Sing-Along atmosphere.

Coming to Seattle on Saturday,August 3rd, the event features a dance party warm up with some of R. Kelly’s best non-Trapped music videos, followed by a 2k DCP presentation of the first 22 chapters of TRAPPED IN THE CLOSET with custom subtitles so that the entire audience can sing-along and exclaim aloud in terror when R. Kelly’s character “Sylvester” flips back the cover and discovers a rubber… rubber… rubber…

Austin’s own Alamo Drafthouse join the fun for a special screening of the popular sing-a-long version of R. Kelly’s Hip-Hopera known as “Trapped in the Closet” on August 3rd. It will be followed by Judd Apatow’s Anchorman starring Will Ferrell (Aug. 17th) and the season’s finale, The Dude Fest: The Big Lebowski Movie Party on August 24th.

Festival Director, Ryan Reiter says “We’re excited to bring a little slice of the Alamo Drafthouse magic to Seattle for an outrageously fun, interactive night out at the movies”.

Reiter has been working with Alamo’s Henri Mazza, creator of Alamo’s Action Pack and original programming to offer exciting interactive fun to their Fremont series this season for a sing-a-long that would be uniquely Fremont.

In recent years, indoor movie theaters like the Seattle’s own Cinebarre and Big Picture offer added appeal to older audiences looking for the ultimate movie experience, loaded with great food, drinks that can be for the weekend warrior or date night for adults.

Reiter touts Fremont’s long standing success as always being on the edge creatively, “We take bigger risks, not being ruled by sponsor approval, as far as outdoor movie programming, offering movie fans a place to celebrate pop culture no holds barred” says Reiter.
