The Mulherkar Brothers

Jazz is a family affair with Andrew and Riley Mulherkar, back home in Seattle for a rare performance together to feature their diverse repertoire of original compositions and standard favorites. Joining them this evening are pianist Wayne Horvitz, bassist Carmen Rothwell, and drummer Evan Woodle.
Riley Mulherkar has been recognized by the New Yorker as a “brilliant teen-aged trumpeter,” and in 2011 was named as a "rising jazz artist" by Wynton Marsalis in JET Magazine. Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Mulherkar is in his fourth year pursuing jazz studies at The Juilliard School. He has performed at the Umbria Jazz Festival, Jazz à Vienne, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, and has shared the stage with Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, and Bill Frisell, among others.
Andrew Mulherkar is a saxophonist, composer, and educator based in New York. He has performed in cities as diverse as Buenos Aires and Montreux and at prominent venues such as Jordan Hall and Lincoln Center. His years of study with MacArthur Grant recipient Miguel Zenon and renowned saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi have instilled his music with a detailed knowledge of harmony and a distinctly rich tone.
