Supremely gifted guitarist, composer, arranger, vocalist and songwriter, Joel Harrison has been a mainstay in jazz since the 1990’s and has released 16 records as a leader since ’95. His combination of western classical ideas, roots Americana, and improvised jazz has become a hallmark for him throughout his career and blurring these boundaries has become crucial to his inventiveness and innovativeness as a musician.

This special performance features music from Harrison's 2003 "breakout" cd Free Country, music that Harrison has not performed in over ten years. This project garnered Harrison an international following, and The Times of London called it "the most singular vision you're likely to hear all year." The quintet, partly from New York, partly from Seattle, will also perform music from Harrison's upcoming release "Spirit House," a group that debuted with Earshot in Seattle in 2013, featuring Brian Blade and Cuong Vu. Vu will be with Harrison at The Royal Room along with the amazing saxophonist David Binney, Michael Bates (bs), and Ted Poor (dr.)

Please note: Tickets do not guarantee seating during shows at the Royal Room. For sold out shows standing room may be the only available space. Please come early to ensure you get a table.
