Annette Peacock and Carla Bley are two of the most important compositional voices to come from the 60s avant-garde. For years they’ve lent their ideas for interpretation by some of the most visionary musicians around, themselves included, and ventured far outside of the realm of jazz as well.
Tonight features pianists Randy Halberstadt, Nelda Swiggett, Dave Peck, Robin Holcomb and Alex Guilbert.
Also featuring special guest painter Orion Misciagna painting live portraits of the artists.
Piano Starts Here highlights the work of some of the most prolific and talented jazz composers and pianists to ever tackle the instrument, hosted and curated by pianists Alex Guilbert and Wayne Horvitz. Each performance brings together Seattle’s finest contemporary pianists to perform compositions that showcase the featured performer’s work – the Royal Room brings together a who’s who of local piano talent to play the ongoing series, featuring pianists like Ryan Burns, Marc Seales, Dawn Clement, Sumi Tonooka, Gus Carnes, Aaron Othein, and Dave Peck, to name just a few.
Please note: Tickets do not guarantee seating during shows at the Royal Room. For sold out shows standing room may be the only available space. Please come early to ensure you get a table. Reservations can be made for those who are coming for dinner as well as the show. The Royal Room is All Ages until 10pm
