This series consists of 90-minute classes, offered every other week:

Whiskey Chemistry

In this class, we'll learn about the basic chemistry of whiskey...what compounds are in it, where they come from, how they evolve over time, and what they each contribute to the flavor and experience. You don't need a science background to take this class, but you'll come out of it with a greater understanding and appreciation of what's in your glass. And you'll sound smarter than all of your other whiskey friends!

Whiskey Aromatics & Sensory Evaluation

Building on the chemistry, the second class is all about the aromatic compounds in whiskey...the aromas and the flavors you taste. This class includes both a whiskey tasting and sensory evaluation lab that you don't want to miss!
    
Japanese Whisky

The final class in the series gets into detail about Japanese Whisky...its history, distilleries, evolution,  and current direction & trends. This is always one of our most popular classes, and will be a tasty way to wrap up our whiskey curriculum.

Each class is accompanied by 5 tastes of whiskey (0.5 oz bottles), which you'll pick up at The Barrel Thief Wine & Whiskey Bar in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood, anytime the week before the series begins.

Classes are taught by Christopher Gronbeck, owner of The Barrel Thief and longtime whiskey educator, and Jason Parker, owner & distiller at Copperworks Distilling, and moderated by Carolyn Sellar, proprietor of Adventures in Whisky.  Classes are held via Zoom Meeting, and include a presentation, guided tasting, and interactive Q&A session.

Tickets to the three classes are offered individually ($50), as the Whiskey 201 Series of three classes ($120), or as a six-class series of Whiskey 101 + Whiskey 201 ($200).  By purchasing the Whiskey 201 series, you'll receive a swag bag with free gifts to help you fully enjoy the classes.  Purchase the six-class series, and receive the swag bag plus special discounts on whiskey available only to Full Series purchasers.  The series make great gifts for the holidays!

Students must be 21+.  Classes will be recorded so you can watch them later, if you can't attend live (students may elect to keep their video & audio off for privacy).
