Consent & Leadership: Dealing With Power

Sat, Aug 7, 2021 at 10:30am

This event has passed.

Power is the ability to create change in our situation or experience. Of all the things that impact our ability to give and receive consent, power has more influence than any other category. By holding a leadership position, or any other position of power, it is important to understand the privilege and the risk that power brings. It’s vital to understand the impacts power has and ways to deal with it. This workshop provides a deep look into power dynamics and the impact when our level of power is different than someone else’s. We’ll go through exercises on recognizing power, talk about where it comes from, and learn some ways to mitigate the impact. We’ll look at how power imbalance can increase consent risk. We’ll also look at how power, used well, can create positive change.

3 Hour Online Zoom Workshop with Q&A throughout. Handouts and Zoom link will be emailed the morning of the class.
