Trivia Puppet Company presents Storytelling with shadow theatre workshop

Join us for a 1.5-hour storytelling with shadow theatre workshop for youth ages 8-17. Led by puppeteer Dustin Curtis, the workshop will consist of a simple lecture and demo of shadow theatre concepts (10 minutes), a performance of two short vignettes consisting of a shadow puppet show and the use of a "crankie" (20 Minutes), followed by a shadow puppet building activity (1hr). Participants are encouraged to explore shadow puppetry and use creative thinking skills by constructing simple puppets and experimenting with the lights.

This workshop is recommended for youth 8-17 years of age and we request a parent be present for anyone under the age of 12. This workshop is presented in english only.

What is a crankie? A crankie is a moving illuminated backdrop that can be used to tell a story through shadow puppetry and the use of various materials.
