EL ABOGADO DE LA SALSA
Victor Andy Castillo Lazo is the name of this spectacular singer and songwriter. Victor was born in Havana Cuba in 1986. Although he pursued a degree in Political Science from Habana University his passion for music was bigger, he found himself singing at every spare time while at the university that is why soon after graduating, he decided to take a chance on music. His beginnings started with reggaeton where he understood how much he loved to perform in front of people, while discovering himself in the musical world he did modeling and was also a professional Dancer, qualities that would add up to his terrific talent.
After a big audition that happened in Habana in 2011, Victor was selected over hundreds of participants and his professional career in Salsa started with Carlon y la novena, he became the singer and composer of a few songs of the album "Doble Cara and Vengo Como Vengo" songs that brought the most success to the band. In 2013 he was called to be part of the casting of the Jazz Band Giraldo Piloto y Klimax, where he became one of the lead singers. While in the band Victor toured the whole Island and sang at Carlos Marx and Tribuna Malecon Habanero, a few of the most important venues in Habana.
The dream of touring in the USA came true in 2014, when the band visited California, Oregon, and Washington. The northwest would become the place he would call home.
Nowadays Victor Andy Castillo "El abogado de la salsa" (baptized as such by his dear friend Steve Guasch) can be found working with El Maestro, "Kiki Valera y Su Son Cubano". Montana Folk Festival and The Carnegie Hall in New York are a few of the venues that have been part of this wonderful artistic collaboration with Kiki.
This 2024 he celebrates his 10th anniversary of making music here in the Pacific Northwest and brings his personal proposal to the Royal Room venue. Salsa, Timba, Rumba, Bolero and Son are just a few of the styles that he performs, highlighting in each interpretation his Cuban roots, energy, dance and powerful voice that makes him the artist you would love to see perform.
