FRIDAY JUNE 5 / Showtime: 9:00 PM
Seattle Cabaret Festival Presents:
THE DRUNKEN TENOR and DEREK EISEL
This pair of acts is presented as one show, emceed by a Seattle Cabaret Festival host. Each act performs a 30- to 38-minute set, with no intermission between acts. Run time of the whole show is 80 minutes.
THE DRUNKEN TENOR in “An Evening Wasted with The Drunken Tenor”
A musical tribute to the brilliantly satirical work of Tom Lehrer, combining Lehrer’s classic songs with original stand-up material that frames and complements each piece.
About The Drunken Tenor
The Drunken Tenor is the Northwest’s only standup comedian opera singer. He’s a Grammy Award winner and a Metropolitan Opera veteran who somehow makes Puccini and punchlines pair well, mixing high notes with lowbrow jokes and arias with absurdity. He spent three years selling out his twisted holiday hit A Very Drunken Christmas Carol for Seattle Opera and has created full original shows for Tacoma Opera and Vashon Center for the Arts. His blend of killer vocals and sharp comedy has landed him everywhere from Bumbershoot to The Royal Room, The Knife Room, Solo Bar, and the Seattle Fringe Festival.
DEREK EISEL in "A Ferry Home Companion”
Derek Eisel's farm fresh set brings original songs of lesbian potlucks and husbands who fix tractors, with a bit of nostalgia for the gay nineties. You'll laugh and maybe cry and have a good time with this engaging farmer musician.
About Derek Eisel
Derek Eisel sings the good news from a little island in the Salish sea: songs of Lesbian Potlucks and husbands who fix tractors. He covers Tammy Wynette and Bonnie Raitt and sells pasture raised eggs. You'll leave feeling a bit more hopeful about the weirdos of this beautiful region we call home.
Showtime: 9:00 PM. Doors open at 8:30. Egan’s Ballard Jam House is located at 1707 Market St.
*Egan's requests a $10 minimum purchase per patron (food or drink).
*Please note: 9 PM shows require patrons to be 21 or over per Egan’s liquor licensing agreement.
