Piano Starts Here: The Music of Thelonious Monk
A night of the music of Thelonious Monk. Featuring solo piano performances by Dawn Clement, Tim Kennedy, Bill Anschell, and Gus Carns.

The Royal Room’s new series “Piano Starts Here” will highlight the work of some of the most prolific and talented composers and pianists in the history of jazz. Each evening (scheduled to take place 8-10 times a year) will bring together three to four of Seattle’s finest pianists to perform the works of a selected pianist/ composer for that evening on the Royal Room’s Steinway B grand piano. The first in the series will focus on the music of one of the 20th century’s most brilliant creator in modern art, Thelonious Sphere Monk. The pianists paying tribute to Monk will be Dawn Clement, Bill Anschell, Gus Carns and Tim Kennedy.
Pianist/ composer Wayne Horvitz will be curating the series for The Royal Room and a short list of possible future programs include the music of:
