Phillips Saylor’s curiosity in composition, American roots, showmanship, and varied performance practices came together in the founding of Stripmall Ballads in Washington DC. Stripmall Ballads branches out into today's America, fusing virtuosic historical convention with contemporary lyricism. Reviving an old form of showmanship, an engaging form of showmanship, Stripmall Ballads draws out the audience, demanding attention for a new poetry.

As a multi-instrumentalist musician of the Northwest, Matt Sircely has been best known as the mandolinist with Hot Club Sandwich, a Django-inspired acoustic jazz band. Sircely’s mandolin work is characterized by a full, warm tone and the ability to express emotion in a broad range of musical forms and traditions, which landed him on the cover of Mandolin Magazine at the age of 33. But Sircely's forthcoming recording for Danny Barnes' Minner Bucket Records marks a return to his roots of songwriting, cited by Barnes as Sircely's most significant contribution to the world of music.
