Why are LGBTQ teens in Utah ending their lives at such an alarming rate? Ignoring one Utah lawmaker’s explanation that the spike in youth suicide rates may be the result of his state’s high altitude, two gay ex-Mormons embark on a mission to expose the truth in this documentary. Through a series of deeply personal and often heart-wrenching interviews with other LGBTQ ex-Mormons—including Tyler Glenn from the rock band Neon Trees—LATTER-DAY GLORY gives a voice to those who have been silenced by rejection, oppression, shame, and the painful realities of growing up gay in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The producer and main subject of the film is makeup and hair artist Jonathon Levi Powell, formerly of Seattle.
