After her longtime partner Chiquita is sent to jail, middle-aged Chela (Ana Brun, winner of the Silver Bear Award for Best Actress at the 2018 Berlin International Film Festival) decides to escape her reclusive lifestyle and become a taxi driver for her wealthy neighbors in Asunción. A new friendship with a young and free-spirited client empowers Chela to break out of her emotional prison. This assured debut film is a complex character study and also a social commentary on Paraguay’s bourgeoisie.
