ROOM TO GROW is a refreshingly positive documentary about LGBTQ youth during some of the most formative years of their lives. Being a teenager can be exciting, awkward, and stressful, but even so, these queer teens are undaunted, surviving, and thriving. With the support of their families and allies, they display incredible resilience given today’s political climate, expressing and exploring their identity. Portland-based directors Matt Alber (best known as a singer-songwriter) and Jon Garcia (THE FALLS, SLGFF 2012; THE FALLS: TESTAMENT OF LOVE, SLGFF 2013; THE FALLS: COVENANT OF GRACE, SLGFF 2016) bring us this poignant and hopeful portrait of teenage empowerment.
