Art for Social Change: Beverly Naidus

Tue, Oct 2, 2018 at 7pm

This event has passed.

Join the Kirkland Arts Center and KBCS 91.3 in welcoming Beverly Naidus presenting a talk titled: “A Bright Orange Life Jacket, A Beacon and a Promise of a Feast:  Socially Engaged Art in Difficult Times”

This talk will explore how art for social change can transform, heal and activate individuals and communities. It will look at examples of work that have been beacons for me, my peers, and my students. It will demonstrate how everyone’s creativity is needed in this time, and that if we come together to collaborate, it will truly be nourishing and help us be resilient in this time.

About Beverly

Best known for her interactive installations, photo/text work, narrative drawings and artist’s books, Beverly Naidus’s work emerges from lived, observed, and researched experiences. Topics she has addressed include environmental illness, unemployment, racism, gentrification, homelessness, body hate, and mass extinctions, as well as possibilities for healing all of those challenges.
