This event has passed.

Due to the popularity of the 2/3/13 workshop, Max and Jonathan are offering the same workshop a second time in February.

Come explore the origins of Japanese-style rope bondage with authentic instruction in Hojojutsu - the classical samurai art of capturing and binding an opponent.

Membership is NOT required for the workshop. Bring ID to verify that you're at least 18.

Hojojutsu: Shibari’s Warrior Roots - Featuring Jonathan

One of the 18 disciplines studied by the Japanese warrior, the art evolved into a complex and ornate system of beautiful ties designed to reflect the social status of the bound prisoner, and went on to deeply influence the modern style of rope bondage known as Shibari / Kinbaku.

This workshop will feature a lecture on the historical origin and cultural context of Hojojutsu, demonstrations, and a block of instruction in several basic Hojojutsu techniques and ties.

Much of the class will be hands-on practice in a friendly, low-pressure environment. The emphasis is on learning, having fun, and building confidence.

If you can, come with a practice partner. If you don't have a partner, come anyway - there'll be lots to watch and we'll try to set you up with a practice partner. Rope Bottoms - this is your chance to meet some rope tops - come learn and get tied up!

Some rope will be provided for the workshop, but please bring one 20' piece of 4 mm (1/8" or 3/16") cord, and one 30’ of 6 mm or 8 mm rope.

If you don't have suitable rope, Monk (of www.TwistedMonk.com) will be selling hemp rope before the workshop. Please show up 15 minutes early if you would like to buy rope.

The workshop is appropriate for all genders and orientations and orientations.

Prerequisite required: This workshop assumes basic previous bondage experience.

Limited enrollment: For reasons of safety and to ensure supervised attention to all students, the workshop will be limited to forty students. Preregistration / prepayment is required.
