Separate males and females, pre-determined by chromosomes? One mother and one father for each baby? These are some common assumptions about life, when seen from an animal's perspective, but plants are not nearly so constrained. Expand your horizons by learning about the weird ins and outs of plant sex, from double fertilization and parasite-offspring to hermaphrodite flowers and cleistogamy, whatever that is!

Arriving in Seattle from the UK, by way of Germany, presenter Orlando de Lange now spends his days researching plant immune systems at the University of Washington.
