Rachel will be giving a talk about the association between obesity, diabetes, and tuberculosis risk. • Obesity and diabetes change a person’s risk of having active TB. • In India, we found TB was much more common among obese people with diabetes than others. • People with diabetes can also be of a healthy weight. Since more people fall into this category, the burden of TB caused by diabetes is similar in normal weight and obese people. • All people in India with diabetes should be screened for TB, regardless of their weight.

I map the extents of glaciers in Greenland and how they are changing over weeks and years. How much are they changing, and how fast? Most of these glaciers are retreating, and in the late 1990s they all started retreating much faster. Is this because of rising air temperatures, ocean temperatures, or something else? I am working to find out.
