This event has passed.

Join visual artist Julian Peña in playing and manipulating with gold leaf, silver leaf, composite leaf, and other materials using water-based methods in fine art applications. There will be a brief overview of gilding and its uses. The workshop will also be supplemented with visual aides.

Each acrylic alchemist will have canvas strips to use throughout the whole course and some materials will be provided, which will result in individual works of art! There is a $10 material fee included in the price for the demos (we will be using composite leaf, not 24 karat gold leaf, even though the instructor will have several kinds of metal leaf to exhibit). Why not show off the work that came out of the workshop? You can even share with the art community and post your works with the hashtag #MidasTouchGoldLeaf and #thelabatadas (this will put you in the running for a contest to win a free ticket to one of my future classes).

Please feel free to bring a little object or flat surface to try to gild! Like a toy, canvas strip, painting, whatever! Only porous surfaces though (no glass or polished surfaces, even though it can be done).

NOTE: PLEASE WEAR CLOTHES YOU DON'T MIND GETTING PAINT ON! Many of our attendees do not get anything on their clothes, but we want to give you a heads up, just in case :)
