This interactive workshop will explore the barriers facing LGBTQ people and discuss how you can be actively involved in the legal, social and political movements working to break down those barriers. From employment discrimination to pornography, school bullying to reproductive rights, the workshop will encourage attendees to look at the issues from a holistic perspective and view LGBTQ issues within the context of other forms of discrimination. Attendees will leave the workshop with a broad overview of the legal climate for LGBTQ people in the USA and active ways they can change that atmosphere.

About the Educator:

A sexpert with a law degree, Lauren Marie Fleming (a.k.a. Queerie Bradshaw to most of the Internet) blogs, podcasts and does videos about sex, sexuality, gender and gender identity at QueerieBradshaw.com, a site for frisky feminists and politiqueers. She also runs CreativitySquared.com where she offers online classes for writers and digital publishing tips. Along with running websites of her own, Lauren works as a consultant providing left-brain solutions to right-brain people and projects. Lauren particularly loves helping women, queers, people of color and other members of minority groups find, and most importantly amplify, their voice, and find ways to make a profit by doing what they love. She frequently speaks at conferences and colleges, and teaches workshops regularly across the country. Lauren is currently shopping her memoir Losing It: My Life as a Sex Blogger based on her popular Curve magazine sex blog. She is represented by Jane Dystel of DGLM. Lauren loves to meet new people, so she encourages others to approach her at any time through Twitter (@LaurenMF and @QueerieBradshaw), Facebook or in person at an event.
