Max Presents Building Power Through Language and Suggestion

Words matter. We use them to negotiate, to reinforce, to direct, to persuade, and to control. Our words can build our partners up or we can use words to disempower, to dominate or to acquiesce. This workshop helps you find the right words, based on your intention.

Language matters for both sides of the slash.  Dominants use language to direct a submissive's actions, to shape their thinking, and to reinforce agreed-upon behavior. Submissives use language to convey respect, to acknowledge authority, and to fulfill their responsibility to communicate fully and authentically. Submissives also use language to support their dominants.

The concepts, demonstrations and exercises in this class will help you negotiate more precisely, lead more clearly, and express submission, reverence and devotion more fully.

We'll highlight a variety of ways to utilize language and suggestion as part of your D/S repertoire. The importance of trust and consent will be stressed, and we'll demonstrate and practice ways to increase clarity and valid consent while reducing the risk of going into compliance.  Language helps build a safe container for D/S, and we'll address the various ways to build and maintain headspace, both for the dominant and the submissive. We'll also talk about how both parties can listen better, thereby reducing the risk of miscommunication.

Finally, we'll introduce some hypnotic techniques that can be used to enhance your D/S. Hypnosis isn't a requirement for making your language more powerful, but it's a great addition to these other techniques.

* Workshop structure

This workshop will include lecture, demos and (optional) exercises. There will be plenty of time for Q&A as well.

The exercises are set up for two people.  If you are attending with a partner, you can do the exercises together.  If you're attending solo, we will help you pair up with another attendee if you wish, or you can save the exercises to do later with a friend or partner.

As always with Max’s classes, there’ll be a handout to facilitate your learning and your ability to practice after the workshop.

This workshop assumes no previous BDSM experience and is appropriate for all genders, all orientations, and for both tops and bottoms.
