Xavier Del Castillo is a saxophonist and composer based in Brooklyn, New York. Since graduating from the Manhattan School of Music, he has performed with numerous Jazz, New Music and Folk ensembles including Adam O'Farrill's Stranger Days, Cat Toren's Human Kind, Los Guachinangos, the Kyle Athayde Dance Party, Patrick Bartley’s Dream Weaver Society, Ben Rosenblum's Nebula Project, Tim Rachbach's Under One Moon and Alec Goldfarb's Laughing Coffin. In addition, he has co-led various ensembles like Brickwork (formerly Mughal Muesli) andthe Arsonists as well as leading his own quartet which interprets European art song and folk music through the lense of jazz and contemporary improvisation, as well as developing original compositions in the same vein. He has performed throughout the world at numerous festivals and venues including the BRIC JazzFest, the Chicago Jazz Festival, Winter Jazzfest, Birdland, Dizzy’s Club, MoMA, Carnegie Hall, the 55 Bar, the Havana International Jazz Festival, the St. Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival and the Sitka Jazz Festival.
