Max and Lover's Lair Present 4mm Scenes - More Fun, Less Rope
Max is rarely without a piece of 4mm rope. Look in his pocket, his briefcase, his glove box… It’s easy to carry, easy to hide, easy to use.
4mm rope is well suited for quick, brutal scenes - hojo ties, strenuous partial suspensions, toe ties. It’s equally appropriate for more gentle moments - a collar and lead, a hair tie, a blindfold. With a little practice you can accomplish so much with so little.
This workshop focuses on how to use a piece or two of 4mm to accomplish your objectives, whatever they are. 4mm bondage is quick, elegant, and fiendishly effective. We’ll discuss, demo and practice a range of techniques - how to hank and carry your 4mm, how to deploy it, and how to use it to be strenuous, kind, or artistic. After some practice you may find yourself wondering why you always carry that heavy rope bag.
We’ll also cover the unique safety considerations for 4mm scenes, and there will be a number of hot demos. By the end of the workshop you'll be able to competently use your 4mm.
Workshop format
There'll be lots of hot demos and some lecture, but most of this workshop is hands-on, so you'll have lots of time to have fun and develop your skills.
If you can, come with a practice partner. If you don't have a partner, come anyway and we'll make sure you get a chance to practice the basic techniques. Rope Bottoms: this is your chance to meet some rope tops! Come learn and get tied up.
If you want to practice during the workshop, please have the following at hand:
- (2) 15-20 foot pieces of 4mm hemp
As always, the emphasis is on learning and having fun.
Who should attend?
No prior knowledge of bondage or knots is assumed for this class - it's perfectly appropriate for beginners. If you've already done some bondage it's a great way to tune up your technique.
This workshop assumes no previous BDSM experience and is appropriate for all genders, all orientations, and for both tops and bottoms.
Afterwards
Attendees will receive an illustrated handout full of principles, safety information, basic technique, and plenty of pictures and instruction to help you practice the knots and ties in this workshop.

Refrain from wearing perfumes, oils, and scented products as some of us are chemically sensitive.
COVID protocols
We are navigating the current guidelines and our own sense of safety and reasonableness. The protocol for this event is based on our own research and risk assessment; we encourage you to do the same before you purchase your ticket.
There is no vaccination requirement for this event. Max is vaccinated and boosted and recommends that you be vaccinated to reduce the severity of your illness if you get sick. Unvaccinated people 12 and older are 17 times as likely to die from Covid as vaccinated and boosted people.
Masks will not be required. You may, of course, wear a mask if you wish.
Please do not attend if you are exhibiting COVID symptoms or you are exposed to someone who has tested positive in the 14 days before the event.
Testing before attending events is a good way to protect each other. Max tests before each event. If you can, please test before you come to class.
