Advance tickets can only be purchased online-we do not sell advance tickets at the venue. Refunds are not available within 48 hours of the event. Tickets do not guarantee seating during shows at the Royal Room. 

We are now accepting reservations for diners! After purchasing tickets, please visit the Reservations page to book a table. Table reservations require advance tickets, and are only for guests who plan to dine at the Royal Room.  We do not take reservations over the phone.

Seating for non-diners is first come, first served. Please arrive early to guarantee a seat!

Jahnvi Madan

Jahnvi Madan is a 21-year-old clarinetist, composer, and songwriter born and raised in Bellevue, Washington. Growing up in the greater Seattle area, she played under the direction of fixtures of the Seattle Jazz and improvised music scene such as Clarence Acox and Wayne Horvitz, who gave her a formative understanding and love for Jazz, stretching from the music of Ellington up through contemporary free improvisation. In parallel, Madan led her own all-girl trad jazz combo throughout high school that performed widely. 

Jahnvi later went on to study under inspirations like Dominique Eade and Melissa Aldana at the New England Conservatory of Music, where she developed a passion for composition, some of which she has so far self-produced and released. Her music stems out of a love for both Jazz and songwriting, and centers themes of family, loss, and love, through the lens of her experience as a first-generation Indian American. 

Since returning to Seattle last year, Jahnvi Madan has involved herself deeply with music education through organizations like Seattle JazzED and is showing herself to be a new and emerging composer and performer, playing around the city, and actively recording with both Seattle and NY musicians. She recently performed at the Washington DC Women in Jazz Festival, after being selected as an Emerging Artist.

The Westerlies

The Westerlies, "an arty quartet...mixing ideas from jazz, new classical, and Appalachian folk" (New York Times) are a New York-based brass quartet comprised of childhood friends from Seattle: Riley Mulherkar and Chloe Rowlands on trumpet, and Andy Clausen and Willem de Koch on trombone. From Carnegie Hall to Coachella, The Westerlies navigate a wide array of venues and projects with the precision of a string quartet, the audacity of a rock band, and the charm of a family sing-along.

Formed in 2011, the self-described "accidental brass quartet" takes its name from the prevailing winds that travel from the West to the East. "Skilled interpreters who are also adept improvisers" (NPR's Fresh Air), The Westerlies explore jazz, roots, and chamber music influences to create the rarest of hybrids: music that is both "folk-like and composerly, lovely and intellectually rigorous" (NPR Music).
