The Royal Room is pleased to present Songwriters in the Round, featuring Abby K, Jess Pillay, Aline & Wes:

Abby K has been immersed in music as long as she can recall. Releasing her fourth album in March 2023, "Where We're At" was written in collaboration with her husband Brian, and recorded at Seattle's iconic London Bridge Studios with the seasoned producer Jonathan Plum.  Where We're At is a charming and thought provoking mix of resplendent folk-pop that touches upon the reality of what it means to be "getting by" together during a time of great uncertainty. Abby K is honest.  Her melodies are instantly hummable and imminently memorable, and her stories will hit you smack dab in the heart.  Her influences embrace the dichotomies in her life.   In all, Abby K is hard to categorize.  She is not pop.  She is not country. She is not rock.  Nor is she alternative or folk.  She is Heart Rock.   Her sound is nostalgic and modern in the same breath.

Jess Pillay is an independent singer/songwriter from Seattle, WA. Her music often crosses genre lines but can best be described as pop fusion. She seamlessly incorporates elements of folk, blues, rock, funk, jazz, and more into her easy-listening pop originals. She draws inspiration from artists like Rachael Yamagata, Norah Jones, Missy Higgins, and Lake Street Dive and often gravitates toward melancholic ballads. Her lyrical signature is her introspectiveness. She's not afraid to grab her rawest emotions with both hands and uses her lyrics to explore hard themes like faith and doubt, grief and loss, systemic injustice, and the messy, ever-changing nature of relationships. But no matter what genre she's wading into or what lyrical subject she's tackling, it's Jess's sultry alto voice that anchors her sound–along with her general disposition toward hope and optimism.

Dual stars glowing in the dark night sky, Aline Vida and Wes Speight blend the best of their musical essences to present a single-minded glow that illuminates everything around them. Powerful, poignant vocals tumble with gravelly electric guitars to bring forth an illuminated sound both new and numinous. It shines. Vida and Speight, separately, have made reputations for themselves in the Emerald City’s music scene. Vida, a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in L.A., has sung fluttering vocals in clubs all over the world and graced the radio waves at stations like KSER and KEXP in the Northwest. Speight, originally from Tennessee, is an intuitive arranger and pointed vocalist as creative in his songwriting as he is in his instrumentations. Equally comfortable headlining a summer festival as he is playing a dive bar at sunrise morning, Speight is a multi-talented musician and prolific songwriter. He has, on occasion, had world-famous artists paint Sasquatch portraits as he plays on stage. The duo appeared on Evening Magazine on Seattle NBC affiliate King 5. Inspired by a desire to speak out about social injustices, life observations, and multifaceted relationships that seem as modern as they do timeless, Aline & Wes have won over the hearts of music lovers from all walks of life. www.alineandwes.com

Courtney Wilkins; lead singer-songwriter of the folk band Red Hush, is a Western Folk musician hailing from the city of Seattle. Court draws inspiration from Lucinda Williams, Joan Baez, Gilian Welch, and Brandi Carlile. Court's lyrics evoke images of foggy mountain scapes, sunsets over rolling hills, dusty trails, and the heartbreak carved out by love lost; something we all can relate to.
