The talented young musicians from Robert Eagle Staff Middle School present their culminating performance of Big Band literature they have explored over the course of the '22-23 school year. This is not your typical middle school jazz band! These kids have a mature ensemble sound, can really swing and are developing some improvisation chops to go along with it! They will be joined by the debut of the Soul Jambalaya Brass Band. Inspired by and gleaning from the rich tradition of New Orleans style brass bands, Soul Jambalaya aims to honor the sounds arising from the African diaspora by serving a musical mélange of gospel, jazz, blues funk, and reggae. The event will close with the two groups performing together. This will be a fun night of music.
