'Familia Gutiérrez' navigates the Son Jarocho from Veracruz using resources from genres such as Bolero, Habanera and Jazz. Ramón Gutiérrez -Grammy awarded musician, composer and luthier- leads the boat with the melodies and tangueos of his requinto jarocho. Pablo Emiliano accompanies him with the harmonies and strumming of his jarana. Lucía and Santiago Gutiérrez set the rhythm and cadence with the woody sound of the zapateado and the cajón. And to the sound of this ensemble, the four of them sing the verses of various traditional sones and compositions by Ramón. From time to time Lucía -Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition winner- and Santiago -jazz singer- explore the vocal possibilities beyond the verse, influenced by scat. Ramón and Pablo, for their part, also take their traditional instruments along new melodic-harmonic and sound paths, always based on their roots.
'Familia Gutiérrez' offers a rich and varied musical experience; enjoyable, like a family afternoon in which spontaneity, improvisation and interaction are protagonists.
