Known for his eclectic originals and progressive instrumentals Alex Aaby is an Instrumentalist (specializing in Saxophone) and singer songwriter from the Seattle area originally. Alex currently spends a majority of his time studying at NYU, where he is on a full ride scholarship, and performing regularly in New York City. He specializes in many different styles of music taking inspiration from icons including, but far from limited to, Stevie Wonder, Chick Corea, Gloria Gaynor, Led Zeppelin, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Vulfpeck etc.
While studying in New York City Alex has had the opportunity to perform alongside and be mentored by many talented professionals including Augie Bello, Arthur Lipner, Melissa Aldana, Lenny Pickett, Benny Bennack III, Misha Piagorsky and many more. As a leader performing along with incredibly talented vocalist Avery Morgan Franks his band performed at venues like Chelsea Music Hall, The Delancy, Bowery Electric, Heaven Can Wait, Berlin Under A and he performed as a sideman countless times at places like Jazz At Lincoln Center: Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, The Times Center, Birdland Jazz Club, and many other cute Greenwich village spaces like the Provincetown Playhouse. He enjoyed studying with many talented teachers at NYU, including renowned recording artist and former pianist with Cannonball Adderly: Micheal Wolff. Alex composes heartfelt music of different styles including Jazz, Fusion, Rnb, Rock, etc. that are meant to convey a plethora of attitudes and at times crucial messages and dialogues. A champion of Gay rights, civil rights and equity for all, he hopes you listen for the passion and the love he tries to send into the audience at every show.
