This is American Flats
Collectively between us we've played in over a dozen bands in Seattle, Nevada, Arizona and Washington DC since the early 90's. I guess you could say this isn't our first rodeo. With a refreshing blend of soulful Americana music with a surprisingly hard rock 'n' roll edge, we feel like we are really hitting our stride.
The Rallies The Rallies are an original pop-rock band from Seattle/Tacoma Washington. Infused with skyward-facing positivity, the quartet is part of the great forever-sewn quilt of the country's hopeful music.
Ian Jones On debut full-length Results Not Typical, seasoned Seattle singer-songwriter Ian Jones defines Northwest Americana with timeless melodic songcraft, ultra-relatable storytelling, and evocative regional imagery. Released on April 7, the album’s 11 tracks wander a poignant sonic landscape between mid-period Tom Petty, ‘70s outlaw country, and James Taylor’s accessible folk-pop.
Raised by a single mom on a steady diet of Beatles, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings, Jones started writing songs on a beat-up classical guitar as a pre-teen. After years in bands in Seattle and Southern California, he released his debut Evergreens EP in 2021, which Exclusive Magazine deemed “A seamless collection.”
A compulsive songwriter who’s literally had melodies come to him in dreams, Jones felt he was yet to truly capture what he’d written on tape. Reconnecting with producer Jesse Siebenberg (Lucas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Supertramp) for his first full album, he assembled an astonishing array of first-call players for two days of live tracking at Ojai’s Brotheryn Studios – a throwback approach to recording that inspired the Results Not Typical title.
The album features drummer Joey Waronker (Beck, REM, Paul McCartney); bassists Johnathan Flaugher (Ryan Adams) and Gabe Noel (Afghan Whigs, Father John Misty); guitarist Jason Soda (Miranda Lee Richards); violinist Paul Cartwright (Father John Misty); and pianists Dave Palmer (Fiona Apple, Chris Isaak) and Aaron Embry (Elliot Smith, Janes Addiction).
Comprising songs carefully culled from Jones’ vast unrecorded catalog, Results Not Typical is a thematically coherent collection of poetic personal narratives flecked with a minor-chord melancholy seeping in from Seattle’s famously wet winters. While Americana music is typically embroidered with Southern or Southern California imagery desert roads, big hats, blazing sun Jones’ Northwestern strain oozes mountains and woods, lakes and rain.
Jones will accompany the release of Results Not Typical with extensive touring, both solo and with his rotating Living Room All-Stars band. Each single will be followed by a live solo acoustic version of the same song, plus extensive video and social media content including behind-the-scenes and on-the-road B-roll.
