Max Presents Cultivating D/S Through Ritual and Protocol
Ritual and protocol are often the most visible manifestations of a Dominant / Submissive interaction.
You can’t see the power exchange, but you can see the collar or the respectful stance, you can hear the language, and you can observe the rules that govern the interactions. These tools help us reinforce tradition, strengthen authority, establish the beginning and ending of scenes, and guide behavior.
Ritual helps us build the container that defines the sacred space for our exchange. It gains power with use, providing comfort and guidance.
Protocol adds formality and gravitas, and helps to shape behavior towards an intention.
And rules are the stuff of D/S fantasy… For many, they are the first tangible way to express a power dynamic.
This workshop will help you understand the role ritual and protocol can play in a D/S dynamic, and will provide tools you can use to define and nourish your own unique connection.
Workshop format
Through a combination of lecture, demonstrations, and private writing exercises, Max will help you understand what's available and how you can use ritual and protocol to create and enhance your D/S dynamic.
As with all of Max's workshops, a handout will be provided to facilitate your learning and retention.
This workshop is part of the D/S Series Max has taught several times since 2013. Each class in the series can be taken independently; there are no prerequisites for any of the classes. Follow-on classes will include:

As with all of Max's workshops, a handout will be provided to facilitate your learning and retention.
Who should attend?
If you're just starting to explore D/S or Service - with or without a partner - this class will help you find and develop resonant practices. No prior knowledge is assumed for this class - it's perfectly appropriate for beginners.
If you've already spent time doing D/S it's a great way to reexamine and enhance your skills and intentions.
This workshop is appropriate for all genders, all orientations, and for both tops and bottoms.
Afterwards
Attendees will receive a handout full of technique and resources. Subsequent classes in the series will address complementary D/S skills.

Agreements
- No smoking or vaping inside.
- Refrain from wearing perfumes, oils, and scented products as our hosts are chemically sensitive.
Covid protocols
We are navigating the current guidelines and our own sense of safety and reasonableness. The protocol for this event is based on our own research and risk assessment; we encourage you to do the same before you purchase your ticket.
We will have HEPA air purifiers running in the dungeon. These air purifiers have been shown to reduce Covid-19 transmission.
There is no vaccination requirement for this event. Max is vaccinated and boosted and recommends that you be vaccinated to reduce the severity of your illness if you get sick. Unvaccinated people 12 and older are 17 times as likely to die from Covid as vaccinated and boosted people.
Masks will not be required. You may, of course, wear a mask if you wish.
Please do not attend if you are exhibiting Covid symptoms or you are exposed to someone who has tested positive in the 14 days before the event.
Testing before attending events is a good way to protect each other. Please test before you come to class.
