Cherrie Adams with The Forman-Finley Band, a jazz sextet, started playing together in 2014. After a long teaching career, Cherrie, an award winning music educator for Seattle Public Schools, was happy to return to her roots, singing jazz. Together, the band has played a variety of club dates, concerts, Jazz festivals, and private events. In 2015 they recorded the CD “Only Trust Your Heart”.
Cherrie’s warm, pure tone and nuanced, conversational style combined with her deep connection with the music, all contribute to her compelling, authentic sound. The band, with Steve Forman-Guitar, Paul Finley-piano/vocals, Rick Leppanen-bass, (Pearl Django), Clif Swiggett-trombone/perc., and Jeff Busch-drums (Entremundos, Duende Libre), help each song find fresh and often surprising moments through their arrangements of both jazz standards and original music.
