Though Bill Evans and Paul Bley took different paths musically, they traveled in the same circles and developed strong musical relationships. These strong relationships were most on display in Evans’s trio with Scott La Faro, and Bley’s trio with Gary Peacock, which coincidentally shared the same drummer: Paul Motian. The result in each case was an organic rapport like nothing before or since.

Tonight features:
Josh Rawlings/Evan-Flory Barnes Duo
Alex Guilbert/Chris Symer Duo
Marina Albero/ Jeff Johnson Duo
Michael Owcharuk

Piano Starts Here highlights the work of some of the most prolific and talented jazz composers and pianists to ever tackle the instrument, hosted and curated by pianists Tim Kennedy and Wayne Horvitz.
