Flamenco at the Royal Room is the meeting place of three artists. Melinda Hedgecorth, Jed Miley and Alfonso Cid are restless performers who travel the world perfecting their art of dance, guitar and song.
Flamenco is a form of music and dance from Spain, especially cultivated in the south where for some people it is a way of life not only to be performed on the stage but in local festivals, in the streets and in their homes. Often compared to blues because of its origin and profound feeling, these sounds and movements relate the joys and pains of life with rhythm, inflection and improvisation.
Alfonso´s flamenco journey began in Sevilla, Spain where he was born and raised listening to the flamenco songs his mother would sing. Jed travels to Sevilla frequently to steep himself in the tradition of Flamenco and Melinda has been at home in Sevilla for the last 11 years performing at some of the most respected tablaos, peñas and festivals.
This will be a very special event bringing the sounds, syncopation and dance of Sevilla, Spain to Seattle.
Please note: Tickets do not guarantee seating during shows at the Royal Room. For sold out shows standing room may be the only available space. Please come early to ensure you get a table. Reservations can be made for those who are coming for dinner as well as the show. The Royal Room is All Ages until 10pm.
