New York-based, Arkansas-born pianist Amina Claudine Myers is recognized for her luscious, soulful playing style that combines her blues, jazz, and gospel influences. During a multifaceted 50-year career as an accompanist, organist, vocalist, composer, and educator, Myers has released 11 recordings, her most recent being Sama Rou – Songs From My Soul, which derives a global sensibility from the idiom of the Great Negro Spiritual and moves it forward with “a predominately prayerful slow pace.”
